Selling Nancy's Books at an Event
What young writer or starry-eyed Nancy Rue fan doesn't want to get his or her copy of the latest book signed by THE Nancy Rue? If you're hosting a Nancy Rue event, complete with signing, you may want to have books for sale onsite. Here's how you can:
Nancy Rue does not sell her books directly, mostly because she doesn't like to deal with the IRS unless absolutely necessary. Books either need to be provided by a local bookstore or direct from the publisher, and the sale will need to be set up, staffed, and taken down by either the staff a bookstore sends over, or by volunteers from your group.
We've found that going through the publisher is actually really easy, especially if that publisher is Zonderkidz. After you've contracted Nancy for an event, the LEAPS staff will provide you with a phone number for Zondervan's Church Source Program and a special code to give them. All you have to do is call, tell them you're hosting an Author Event, and which books you'd like to order in what quantities. Zondervan will pay the freight to get the books to you, give you a 50% discount on the books, and accept back any books that you didn't sell. Pretty great, huh?

However, if you REALLY don't want to deal with a book sale set-up, but really WANT a book sale onsite, go to your local Christian bookstore. If they will agree to handle the whole thing for you, they are eligible for Zondervan's Church Source Program, too--PLUS, Nancy Rue will agree to do a signing event at their store on the same day or a consecutive date to your event.
You can choose to sell the books for cost, or to raise money for your organization via the sale--just make sure you're clear on the tax laws that apply to your organization if you do that! Whatever the case, Nancy will sign every book handed to her to sign, and with a smile on her face. After all, how cool is it to have people WANT signed copies of your books?
