This last weekend I was in Fort Myers, Florida. I think it’s pretty close to what the Garden of Eden must have been like (minus the snake, of course). I loved the palm trees and the seafood and the sunsets and the people who smile all the time because they’re WARM.  My fave part was hanging out with my husband, who is my best friend. Nothing like spending a whole weekend with your BFF, right?

Now I’m back to work, doing lots of radio interviews telling people about Lily and Sophie and the non-fiction books like Girl Politics.  Today I was on a program on Sirius radio, talking to dads about their daughters. It made me want to ask you: what is one thing you wish your dad knew about you? If you want to answer that question, email me at nnrue@hughes.net. There’s a FaithGirlz bracelet in it for you.

I hope you’re having a great week. I am, writing and speaking and thinking about you, tween girls, my favorite brand of kid!  Thanks for being.

Blessings,

Nancy Rue

I just got back from Baltimore. It was SO cold I couldn’t even smile when I was outside because it hurt my teeth!  But I was with a group of writers I’m helping to become better at what they do so the icicles hanging from my nose didn’t bother me as much.

The authors I was hanging out with are writing books for kids. One of them, Candy Abbott, has a book out called Gavin Goodfellow and the Legend of Burnt Swamp. It’s an awesome fantasy about an unlikely 13 year old hero who has to do spiritual warfare with some pretty scary characters. If you would like to learn more about the Gavin series, go to www.gavingoodfellow.com. You can see a photo of the author and me on my PICTURES page.

If YOU like to write, don’t forget my new page, SO YOU WANT TO BE A WRITER, which gives you new tips every week.  Maybe someday your books will be on the shelves next to mine.

Meanwhile, I wonder if Gavin and Sophie would like each other . . .

See you next week!

Happy New Year! Can you tell it's been a busy nine months? I've been so involved in writing, traveling, and teaching (okay, and having some fun, too) I haven't had time to blog. But that doesn't mean I haven't been thinking of YOU all. You have been in everything I've done. Here's a quick update: I wrote a year-long devotional called THAT IS SO ME which is coming out this year. You'll learn all about it on my website as time draws closer for it to release. Then I wrote two of the new WHAT ABOUT LUCY? set of four books. You'll find out more about Lucy, too, in the next few months. Keep checking the website and you'll get a sneak peek at her. two more books came out in the FaithGirlz line -- Girl Politics and Body Talk. Trust me - you NEED those. I finished a novel for mom-types, too, so that brings my total of books I've written to 107.  Yikes!

I did a lot of that work on my laptop (her name is Sophie) because I traveled to 16 different cities in 2007. What a ride! It was so fun meeting so many of you, finding out more about what it's like to be a tween girl. I even got some lessons in soccer (Lucy is a soccer player), went into a burning building with some firemen for my grown-ups' novel (okay, so the fire was in a training tower . . .), and slept in the same bed Billy Graham used to sleep in at the Glen Eyrie Castle.

Home news: my husband and I bought a brand new boat, and is it fun! It's bright yellow -- her name is Banana Split -- and she goes way fast on our lake. I also got a brand new red Jeep, whose name is Lucy. For those of you who remember me talking about my green Volkswagen Beetle, Lily, she had to retire. I heard she is now being driven by a teenage girl., That works, doesn't it?

My only sad news is that our beloved three year old black lab Benjamin died from cancer in December. He was a wonderful dog, and I miss him terribly. Those of you who have lost pets know how painful that can be. It's hard to write without his big ol' head in my lap. We don't think he would want us to be dog-less for long, so the search for two lab puppies is on. I'll let you know when we become dog parents again.

I have so many cool things in store for you this year, and I promise to stay in better touch. I get the feeling from my conversations with God that you and I are going to learn together, grow together, and, of course, let our authentic selves shine through. I'll be back next week!

So, what do you think of my new website? Pretty fun, huh? We had a lot of cleaning out and updating to do, but I hope the result is something everyone enjoys, particularly people looking for information on booking events and, of course, my books!

Right now I'm actually in Grand Rapids, MI, at Zonderkidz! It's been several crazy days of meeting with the people who run different book divisions, doing some PR training, and helping to plan a new campaign designed to reach tweens and their parents. It's not the Spring weather I was just getting used to in Tennessee, I have to say--I don't know how these people do it!
When I get back home, I'll be finishing up the devotional I'm working on for Tween girls, and then I'll be getting started on the Lucy Rooney series. I recently finished an adult novel that will be coming out in 2008 called Healing Stones--it's the first of several novels I'll be partnering with the renown Christian psychologist Steve Arterburn on, which addresses some really tough issues grown up women face and how it shapes their walk with God. After I finish the first Lucy book, I'll be meeting with Steve to lay the groundwork for our next collaboration, about a woman named Lucia. No connection between the two!

I hope everyone who visits this new page will take full advantage of all my assistant and I have tried to offer here, and let us know what you think. I always love hearing from readers!
